Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair
9-12 October 2014

Great Northern Events NW Ltd, is a not-for-profit organisation. Established in 2007 by Ann-Marie Franey and Angela Mann, GNE aims to champion contemporary craft in the North,  give designer makers a platform to promote and sell their work and engage and develop new audiences of buyers and collectors.

I  have collected new life stories to share from the Istanbul-London Dual City Course Central Saint Martins and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
London and Istanbul are among the world's oldest and richest cities in terms of heritage and historical sites. Their global appeal is booming, with artists and designers keen to experience the beguiling mix of both the ancient and modern styles of these vibrant metropolises. My print Taksim Square Istanbul.

Kabak doesn't have a sufficient population to be designated as a "village", Kabak is officially a neighbourhood of Uzunyurt in the Turkish mountains. I recently spent two weeks there prior to doing a dual city course at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University a 
Turkish state university located in the Fındıklı neighborhood of İstanbul where i studied Print and Central Saint Martins London where i studied weave. I enjoyed a flip floppy time in Kabak and learned a lot about the local textiles.

I am going to Turkey in June, to spend two weeks on the coast for a much deserved break. Then I will travel to Mimar Sinan University Of Fine Arts in Istanbul to print for a few days, before I fly back to London to weave at Central Saint Martins. I am looking forward to searching for interesting yarns and fabrics on my trip. Yesterday was a perfect day to run an Indigo workshop. I used my new dye vat to dye some of my own fabric and string.

I am determined to draw more often. I find it easier to seek a quiet spot outside especially now Spring is here, away from every day distractions. My friend Kin Lee http://www.kinleeart.com/ paints plein air using oils. I enjoyed finding this fragment of Blue and White pottery to use in my doodle with ink and water colour pencils.
